Lisa Gambarotto
Post-doctoral fellow

Lisa earned her B.Sc. and Master's in Molecular Biology, followed by a Ph.D. in Bioscience at the University of Padova, Italy. During her Master's and Ph.D., she conducted research in Prof. Paolo Bonaldo's lab, focusing on the autophagy pathway in the neuromuscular system. Her work included exploring the role of the key autophagic protein Ambra1 in skeletal muscle and investigating ways to modulate autophagy in COL6-related muscular dystrophies using caloric restriction mimetic compounds. For her first post-doctoral year, she received a post-doc AFM-Telethon fellowship and worked in Prof. Matilde Cescon's lab (University of Padova), where she studied autophagy in the myelinating glia of the peripheral nervous system. She has now joined the Nikoletopoulou lab as a post-doctoral researcher, where she will investigate the potential autophagic regulation of RNAs in the brain.
