Post-doctoral fellow

Emmanouela received her B.Sc. in Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology and her M.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from the University of Crete. She obtained her Ph.D. in Biology, working on the field of mitochondrial biology in Prof. Tokatlidis’ lab at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of Foundation for Research and Technology of Crete. She focused on the functional mechanism and molecular interactions of the mitochondrial sulfhydryl oxidase Erv1 in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and she pursued her first postdoctoral appointment in the same lab at the Institute of Molecular Veterinary and Life Sciences (MVLS) of University of Glasgow. She is currently a postdoctoral research associate in Dr. Nikoletopoulou’s lab and she aims to address challenging questions related to the role of autophagy in neuronal plasticity and development.
