This paper points the finger on the pervasive reductionism dominating today's neuroscience research. We have developed technological tools that allow us to investigate the neural tissue at an unprecedented level (from micro to macro-scale). Unfortunately this progress is not accompanied by an equivalent progress on the theoretical and systematic thinking about the brain. If anything, along the way we have forgotten much of the tools and approaches designed to integrate different levels of understanding.
