UNIL and CHUV encourage excellence, individual recognition and responsibility. The Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM) and the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) are inviting applications for a position of:

Associate Professor in the field of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) research

in the Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Service (RAD)

Starting date: First semester, 2026

Place: Lausanne, Switzerland

The Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Service (RAD) at the CHUV is part of the Department of Medical Radiology (DMR) and plays a central role in patient care by providing advanced medical imaging techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of pathologies. Through a multidisciplinary approach, it works in close collaboration with various medical and surgical departments at the CHUV to ensure optimal and personalized patient management. Its expertise extends from diagnostic imaging to minimally invasive image-guided interventions, contributing to enhanced therapeutic options and patient follow-up. As a hospital-university service, it is also a key player in radiology research, driving technological innovation and the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Its proximity to CIBM, FBM, and EPFL fosters interdisciplinary collaborations and continuous training for healthcare professionals and future radiologists.

Main missions:

  • Lead a research program in MRI methods development for clinical applications, with a translational and interdisciplinary focus.
  • Develop innovative approaches for MRI acquisition and reconstruction, integrating advances in AI and multimodal imaging.
  • Ensure the sustainability and continued growth of the existing cardiovascular MRI research program, expand it to other organ systems and applications.
  • Investigate new molecular compounds and cellular imaging to visualize previously undetectable pathological processes, with a strong translational potential.
  • Foster collaborations with research units at CIBM, CHUV, UNIL, and EPFL, as well as clinical and industry partners.
  • Fulfill undergraduate and postgraduate teaching duties of the Department.

UNIL and CHUV are committed to promoting gender equality and diversity and strongly encourage applications from female candidates http://www.unil.ch/egalite.

Desired profile:
