Physician, Head of the gynecology Service

with an Associate or Full Professor title

at the Woman-Mother-Child Department (DFME)

The mission of CHUV's gynecology Service is to provide care for women (including young girls and adolescents) throughout their reproductive lives, at the time of menopause and during the post-menopausal period. Our medical activities are wide-ranging and specialized, covering the treatment of gynecological pathologies (with possible surgical procedures), the medical and surgical care of gynecological cancers (onco-gynecology), benign and malignant breast diseases (senology), reproductive, fertility and menopausal disorders (reproductive medicine), as well as problems of urinary incontinence and organ descent (uro-gynecology). Various psychosocial medicine consultations are provided to complement our gynecology and obstetrics services. They offer one-off advice or long-term support in cases of major psychological or social issues. Finally, the Service and Department are committed to developing research that ensures quality control of clinical work, provides ongoing training for staff and promotes medical advances likely to improve healthcare. In addition, the proximity of the various faculties of UNIL and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), as well as the presence of numerous companies, stimulates reflection, collaboration and ongoing research.

Main missions:

1. Direct, organize and ensure the development of all the typical activities of a clinical service in a university hospital.
2. Ensure and reinforce the expertise and security of clinical missions/services, while developing inter-institutional collaborations and synergies in line with CHUV's strategic plan.
3. Conduct and develop high-level, externally-funded, peer-reviewed clinical and academic research, including own research, published in recognized scientific journals.
4. Ensure and guarantee the missions of pre-graduate training (according to FBM requirements), post-graduate training (ISFM cat. A1 training center) and continuing training, in the field of gynecology.
5. Consolidate the influence of the clinical and academic domain both internally and externally.

Desired profile:

• Federal medical diploma (or equivalent recognized by MEBEKO), MD or MD-PhD.
• Specialist title in gynecology-obstetrics (ISFM or equivalent recognized by MEBEKO).
• Extensive clinical experience in the field.
• Managerial skills in running a clinical gynecology service.
• Professorial-level academic knowledge with a proven track record in university teaching and ability to set up clinical research programs that can be supported by expert external funding
• Good knowledge of French (LM or minimum B2, C1 ideal) or ability to acquire it rapidly.
• Preference will be given to a personality open to communication and cooperation, capable of stimulating young colleagues destined for a hospital-academic career.
