Physician and Head of the Psychiatry Liaison Service

with an Associate or Full Professor title in the field of consultation and liaison psychiatry

The Psychiatry Liaison Service (PLI) is part of the Psychiatry Department (DP) of the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV). It is composed of the CHUV liaison unit and a specialised liaison unit, as well as an emergency crisis unit, open 24 hours a day to any patient experiencing psychiatric difficulties, working closely with the CHUV's somatic emergency department and a centre that provides care (outpatient, day centre, hospitalisation) for adolescents and adults suffering from anorexia nervosa and/or bulimia. On an academic level, the PLI has a research centre with expertise in qualitative research, whose mission is to promote the investigation and development of psychiatric liaison interventions among somatic clinicians.

Main missions:

  • Lead the Department and assume overall medical responsibility
  • Organise and supervise psychiatric care and liaison services
  • Coordinate undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education
  • Develop and guide academic activities in line with the university's mission
  • Fulfill an institutional role at the DP and CHUV

NB: As part of the structural reorganisation of the DP, the scope of the Service is set to evolve. Therefore, the new Head will be involved in this process.

Desired profile:

  • Federal medical degree (or recognized MEBEKO qualification required) and MD or MD-PhD
  • ISFM specialist or equivalent qualification (recognized MEBEKO qualification required) in psychiatry and psychotherapy
  • In-depth training in consultation and liaison psychiatry (ISFM or equivalent recognised by MEBEKO)
  • Solid clinical experience in liaison psychiatry, in managing major clinical projects and ability to develop new ones (interdisciplinary)
  • Recognised managerial skills in leading and managing a large/multi-site team and extensive experience in project management
  • Academic knowledge and expertise at professorial level with proven experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and ability to set up clinical research programmes supported by external expert funding
  • Good knowledge of French (LM or C1 ideal, minimum B2 with ability to learn quickly).
  • Strong institutional commitment and a strong ability to unite and motivate colleagues
  • Proven track record of exemplary professional conduct: the successful candidate must provide every guarantee of integrity and compliance with the legal and regulatory requirements of the position.
