Associate Professor and Deputy Physician in the field of cerebrovascular diseases and neurosonology

within the neurology Service

Place: Lausanne, Switzerland

The neurology Service is looking for an Associate Professor and Deputy Physician for its Cerebrovascular Diseases Unit with its certified Cerebrovascular Centre. This Unit is responsible for the care of patients suffering from cerebrovascular diseases, including prevention, diagnosis, acute treatment and post-hospital follow-up. The Unit is also responsible for the Clinical Neurosonology Laboratory for the evaluation of cervical and intracranial arteries in multiple cerebrovascular diseases.

Main missions:

  • Provide care for cerebrovascular and neurological patients as a senior physician and manage the outpatient cerebrovascular clinic
  • Head or co-lead the Clinical eurosonology Laboratory for inpatients and outpatients
  • Co-lead clinical neurovascular research, develop a high-quality/high-performance research programme and achieve international recognition within the Cerebrovascular Centre
  • Provide cutting-edge cerebrovascular and neurological teaching
  • Provide expert advice to practitioners (doctors, carers, therapists)

Desired profile:

  • Federal medical degree (or recognized MEBEKO qualification required) and MD or MD-PhD
  • ISFM specialist or equivalent qualification (recognized MEBEKO qualification required) in neurology
  • Certificate from the Swiss Society of Clinical Neurophysiology (SSNC) for the additional training program in cerebrovascular sonography, or equivalent qualifications (or willingness to obtain this certificate within two years of starting employment)
  • Proof of expertise in the field of cerebrovascular diseases and neurosonology
  • Proof of leadership in academic research in the field of cerebrovascular diseases and/or neurosonology
  • Recognized managerial skills in leading and managing a research team and in international collaborations
  • List of publications demonstrating academic excellence
  • Academic knowledge and expertise at professorial level with proven experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
  • Ability to set up clinical research programs likely to be supported by external expert funding
  • Proficiency in French (level at least B2, C1 ideally) or intention to acquire it quickly
  • Excellent knowledge of English
