Tenure-track Assistant Professor towards Associate Professor 

at the Center for Integrative Genomics

Starting date: January 2026 or to be agreed                             

Place: Lausanne, Switzerland

Contract length: 2 years, renewable twice                                

Rate: 100%

The Center for Integrative Genomics (CIG) is a dynamic research center within the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne (UNIL). The CIG’s research activities profit from a highly supportive infrastructure, including state-of-the-art core facilities.

Main tasks – Research:

  • Establish a research program in the field of eukaryotic gene expression and/or functional genomics; use of live imaging approaches and/or structural biology (cryo-EM) –  benefiting from the newly established Dubochet Center for Imaging – is of particular interest.
  • Collaborate in the scientific and academic life of the Department and the Faculty and promote its visibility at the national and international level.
  • Observe and enforce the highest ethical and legal regulations of UNIL.

Main tasksTeaching:

  • Participate in the teaching activities of the CIG within the School of Biology and Medicine, encompassing structured teaching (lectures and tutorials), practical classes, management of teaching activities.
  • Supervise Masters and PhD theses, and participation in thesis committees and doctoral teaching programs.
  • Organize and participate in seminars, symposia etc., within and beyond the host institute.

Desired profile:

  • PhD with experience in the field of eukaryotic gene expression and/or functional genomics.
  • Strong track record in research, as attested by impactful publications in international, peer-reviewed journals.
  • Evidence of ability to secure competitive research funds.
  • Evidence of teaching / supervision experience.
  • Advanced managerial skills particularly in team and project management.
  • The working language of the CIG is English, but proficiency in French (at least B2 level) or ability to acquire it within 1-2 years is desirable.

The successful candidate will receive installation funds as well as an annual research and consumables budget.
