Deputy Physician and Associate Professor in the field of cardiac and thoracic vascular surgery

Cardiac Surgery Unit (CCV) – Heart and Vascular Department (DCV)

The Cardiac Surgery Division (CCV) at CHUV is a center of excellence and innovation in the cardiovascular field, providing cutting-edge services in both adult and pediatric cardiac surgery. It also offers the latest minimally invasive cardiac surgery techniques. The position advertised within this division calls for strong leadership skills, a clear interest in implementing the latest technologies, and a full commitment to research and teaching.

Main missions:

  • Assume major responsibilities in clinical practice, teaching, research, and service management under the supervision of the Service leadership.
  • Lead a large team of surgeons andassistant physicians in training.

Desired profile:

  • Federal medical degree (or MEBEKO equivalent required), MD, MD-PhD
  • Specialist title degree in cardiac and thoracic vascular surgery (ISFM or MEBEKO equivalent required)
  • Extensive clinical experience in cardiac surgery, including heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support
  • Expertise in subspecialties such as minimally invasive surgery and hybrid interventional approaches, with an interest in implementing new technologies
  • Ability to set up research programs supported by expert external funding
  • Professorial-level academic knowledge and expertise with proven practice in pre- and post-graduate teaching
  • Proven managerial skills in leading and managing a large team of researchers and in international collaborations
  • Good knowledge of French (LM or minimum B2, C1 ideal) or ability to acquire it rapidly
  • Excellent knowledge of English.
