Physician, Head of the urology Service (URO)

and Associate or Full Professor

The urology Service at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV) is one of the two university services in western Switzerland. There are six urology services in university hospitals in the country. The urology Service features an 18-bed clinical unit (with access to another 12 beds) and a consultation unit, known as the urology platform, which is in line with the neuro-urology unit and the endoscopy center. In collaboration with the Department of oncology (DO), the urology platform also runs the Interdisciplinary Bladder Center and the Interdisciplinary Prostate Center for all diagnostic activities. The urology Service operates from 3 different sites.

Main missions:

  • Lead, organize and manage the development of all activities of a university urology service.
  • Ensure and reinforce the expertise and quality of the service clinical missions, while developing multidisciplinary and inter-institutional collaborations and synergies in line with the CHUV's strategic plan.
  • Federate, conduct and develop a high-level clinical and academic research, financed by expert external funds and published in recognized scientific journals.
  • Ensure and conduct pre-graduate (according to FBM needs), post-graduate (ISFM cat. A1 training center) and continuing education missions, in the field of the discipline, by being the official discipline leader.
  • Guarantee qualified medical and scientific talent́, strengthen the influence of the clinical and academic field both internally and externally, and collaborate with hospitals in the “Federation des hôpitaux vaudois (FHV)” and neighboring cantons.

Desired profile:

  • Federal medical diploma (or Mebeko recognition mandatory), MD or MD-PhD.
  • ISFM specialist in urology, with in-depth training in operative urology (or Mebeko recognition mandatory).
  • Prostate specialist with expertise in all types of diagnosis and treatment strategies.
  • Extensive clinical experience: robot, focal therapy, image-fusion biopsy.
  • Cutting-edge research on prostate cancer (international collaborations).
  • Recognized and certified managerial skills in leading and managing a large/multisite team and extensive project management experience.
  • Academic knowledge and expertise of professorial rank with proven practice in pre-́- and post-graduate teaching.
  • Ability to set up clinical research programs supported by expert external funding.
  • Good knowledge of French (LM or C1 ideal, minimum B2 with ability to acquire it quickly).
