Joseph Clerke
PhD student

Joseph joined the Mameli lab in September 2018 as a PhD student. He completed his Integrated Masters (MSci) and bachelor’s degree at the University of Glasgow. This included a year of internship in the lab of Marie Carlén at Karolinska Insitutet, Stockholm, working on anatomical dissection of inputs to the Thalamic Reticular Nucleus. After his masters he undertook a 6-month internship in the lab of Juan Mena-Segovia at Rutgers and used viral tracing techniques to elucidate the output connections of the Pedunculpontine Nucleus. In the Mameli lab he will be using electrophysiology combined with optogenetic assisted circuit-mapping to look at reorganisation of Lateral Habenula output in cocaine withdrawal.
