Lorenz Hirt
Associate professor

Lorenz Hirt, MD, is associate professor and Neurologist FMH, in charge of the diagnostic Doppler lab and deputy chief of the comprehensive stroke centre of the CHUV. Prof Hirt directs a research lab hosted by the DNF.
Medical school was at UNIL, Lausanne followed by basic science training in experimental virology and molecular biology at the Pasteur institute in Paris and then at the DKFZ in Heidelberg (Medical thesis). After a post-doctoral fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard 1997-1999 with Prof M.A. Moskowitz, Prof Hirt created the stroke lab at the CHUV in 1999 and has been a group leader since then.
