A new review on learning and memory in Drosophila

Vittoria, Alex, Tilmann and Claudia wrote together this concise review on learning and memory in Drosophila in the perspective of intellectual disabilities. They discuss how this model system can be advantageous to the study of neurodevelopmental disorders, from genetics to behavior. The review can be found here.

 

Additional info on the cover: Animal models, from C. elegans to primates, participate in the building of a synapse. Feature of neurodevelopmental disorders are alterations of the synapses that ultimately impinge on brain connectivity. Animal models have been instrumental for the understanding of different diseases and developing targeted pharmacological treatments.
