Chin-Lin Chen
Post-doctoral fellow

Chin-Lin obtained his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland). He started his research career by investigating the channel's function in mice’s neurons and synaptic function for memory in flies using electrophysiology. During his Ph.D., he worked on innovating a surgery on flies that allows imaging a behaving fly’s ventral nerve cord (VNC), an analog of the spinal nerve cord in vertebrates, to study the neural mechanism of motor control. Using this novel technique and computational analysis on images and signals from a large-scale functional screen on ascending neurons from the VNC, he discovered that distinct behavioral states are conveyed to the brain's integrative sensory and action selection centers. After graduating, he joined Prof. Bagni’s team in 2023 to leverage the high-throughput drug screening approach with transgenic mutant flies and bioinformatics to understand the molecular mechanism that links autism and glioblastoma for translational purposes.
